    Zinfandel-Weine

    Rote Zinfandel-Weine sind in der Regel groß und kräftig mit vielen intensiven Aromen von Brombeeren, Pflaumen, dunklen Kirschen und Heidelbeeren. Zinfandel-Weine haben in der Regel mäßige Tannine, einen hohen Säuregehalt und einen hohen Alkoholgehalt von 14-17% . Diese Weine werden oft über einen längeren Zeitraum in Eichenfässern gelagert, um ihnen den letzten Schliff zu geben und den Alkohol und die Tannine vollständig zu integrieren. Aus der Zinfandel-Traube werden auch süße Roséweine hergestellt, die als White Zinfandel bekannt und in Teilen Kaliforniens sehr beliebt sind.

    Schlüsselregionen der Zinfandelherstellung

    Die berühmteste Zinfandelregion ist Kalifornien, wobei die Unterregionen Napa Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Russian River Valley und Lodi alle hervorragende Zinfandel-Weine hervorbringen. Zinfandel wird auch in der süditalienischen Region Apulien angebaut, wo er als Primitivo bekannt ist. Forschungen haben ergeben, dass Zinfandel genetisch fast identisch ist mit mehreren einheimischen kroatischen Trauben, was darauf hindeutet, dass die Traube möglicherweise aus diesem Land stammt.

    Zinfandel als Speisenbegleiter

    Dank ihres intensiven Geschmacksprofils passen kräftige rote Zinfandel-Weine hervorragend zu herzhaften roten Fleischgerichten wie gegrillten Rippchen, Rinderspießen, geschmortem Rindfleisch oder reichhaltigen Wildeintöpfen. Weitere gute Optionen sind würzige Lammbraten, Pastagerichte auf Tomatenbasis oder gereifter Hartkäse.
